Most small bags of charcoal can be inconsistent. You open them and get a mix of dust and small pieces. The fire starts unevenly, produces more smoke than it should, and takes longer to settle. It works, but you spend most of the time adjusting it instead of cooking.
We made our Organic Alder Lumpwood Charcoal to avoid that. Produced from responsibly sourced European alder wood, it lights quickly and settles into a steady, responsive fire. The pieces are consistent enough to allow airflow from the start, so the fire behaves as expected without constant intervention.
The 2.5kg bag is suited to shorter sessions and smaller grills, quick weekday grilling, a small group or family BBQ, or when you don’t want to open and store a larger bag. It’s not designed for long, slow cooking, but for when you want to light your BBQ, cook, and be done without overthinking it.
